Service Providers

The main aim of the Dementia CRCs is to translate research into practice and hence we are working closely with both service providers and consumers. Service providers are organisations that help manage the care of people with dementia. This includes residential care and nursing homes and also the Dementia Training and Study Centres.

The DCRCs are working in conjunction with the following service providers:

  • Hammond Care Group
The Hammond Care Group will soon be performing a review of current research activities in aged care services and the identification of priorities for support via the completion and dissemination of reviews. This project involves surveying the "research quality" evaluations, investigations, QA exercises and individual treatments that occur in aged care services but are often not published or communicated to others. The first step will involve the distribution of a simple screening questionnaire to identify potential targets for a more in-depth survey. The Hammond Care Group would like to invite all health professionals to respond by identifying projects that they think should be included in the survey. If you would like to offer some help please email Richard Fleming.

If you are a service provider who would be interested in working with us then please contact us via email.

There are also four Dementia Training and Study Centres (DTSCs) that have been established as part of the Federal Government's Dementia Initiative. The aim of these centres is to develop the skills of current and future health professionals across all disciplines in the area of dementia. These DTSCs include:

  • The South Australian & Northern Territory DTSC headed by Alzheimer's Australia SA and in conjunction with Aged and Community Services SA and NT; Charles Darwin University Australia; Flinders Medical Centre; Flinders University and the South Australian Government.
