Dr Geetha Ranmuthugala

Dr Geetha Ranmuthugala is an epidemiologist experienced in the conduct and analysis of prospective epidemiological studies to examine causal relationships in health. Her more recent work has been in the area of rural health, where she was involved in collaborations that researched ways of improving the quality of health care delivered to rural populations. Specific projects that she worked on included 1) analysing data collected from a network established to support physicians in rural hospitals adopt evidence-based guidelines in the managing acute stroke; 2) examining the evidence for the role of rural exposure in influencing medical students to take up rural practice, and 3) examining the impact on carer burden of a training program delivered to GPs in rural Australia to promote early detection and management of dementia.
