Associate Professor Koch is the Director of Research and Higher Degrees for the Division of Nursing and Midwifery at La Trobe University as well as a Director of the Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care. Susan has extensive clinical and teaching experience in the aged care sector and her main research interests relate to evidence based practice in aged care. Her research focus has been in the areas of restraint use in aged care, quality indicators and standards in aged care, elder abuse and medication management. Susan was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, Australia in 2000 in recognition of her contribution to gerontic nursing and the RCNA. She is also a Fellow of the Australian Association Gerontology and the President of the Alzheimer’s Association (Victoria). Susan was invited by Residential Care Rights and the Office of the Public Advocate to assist in resolving care issues involving older people in residential care, their families and staff. Susan has been the chief investigator on a number of large research projects and has a successful track record in project consultancies. She has also published both nationally and internationally in all areas of her research.
