Barbara is Dean of Research & Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences. In this role she provides leadership and strategic direction in the Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute across the seven Schools and 20 research centres/institutes across the Faculty. She has also been involved with the Centre for Research into Aged Care Services at Curtin University since its inception in 2000. Her career includes considerable experience in industry and academic environments, and particular experience in aged care as a clinician, consultant, researcher and educator. Her particular research interests are in workforce issues, work practices, models of care and service frameworks, and quality of life factors in aged communities; and organizational leadership and change. She is also the Director of the WA Dementia Training Study Centre and node leader for Curtin University in the Dementia Collaborative Research Centre: Carers and Consumers.
